WAFM contributes to ECOWAS Agricultural Policy (ECOWAP) 2025

ECOWAP

In March 2018, WAFM participated and contributed to the development of ECOWAS Agricultural Policy (ECOWAP) at the Regional Agricultural Policy Workshop in Lome-Togo. The workshop was to validate the  Strategic Policy Framework for Agriculture focusing on the capacity building needs of regional stakeholders  for implementation of ECOWAP 2025.

With its participation, WAFM joined the Non-State Actors Sub Committee of ECOWAP which has given WAFM access to regional organizations of agriculture financing and investments in all the 15 member States. The meeting also provided a platform to interact with representatives of countries not covered by the current phase of the WAFM programme including Togo, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin and Sierra-Leone to discuss their production and cross-border trade potential of some of the WAFM crops.
